Two Northwest Georgia Medical Center Employees Arrested on Drug Charges

RX Theft

Two employees at Northwest Georgia Medical Center in Rome have been arrested and charged with the Unauthorized Distribution of a Controlled Substance – after the pair allegedly obtained prescription medication several times without the authorization of a physician.

39 year old Candace Bree Watkins of Summerville, and 32 year old Amanda Lynn Phillips from Rome were arrested last week on those charges.

The pair stands accused of filling eight prescriptions for Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen between February 5th and May 7th.

Watkins had reportedly used the medical identification number of one of the center’s physicians to call in the prescriptions to CVS Pharmacy; Phillips would then pick up the prescriptions – five of which were in her name. The three others were submitted under different names.

Phillips was additionally charged with three counts each of felony Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance and Obtaining Dangerous Drugs by Fraud or Forgery.
