Two People Killed In A Two Car Crash In Etowah County On Monday

Two confirmed dead following a two car crash on Highway 411 near Appalachian Highway. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred at 1:04 p.m. Monday.  

25 year old Clinton Don Lee Mathis was killed when the 1999 Toyota Camry he was driving collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado on U.S. 411 at the intersection of Appalachian Highway.

Mathis, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  A four-year old child in Mathis’ vehicle, who was not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene. A two-year old passenger in Mathis’ vehicle was injured and transported to Gadsden Regional Hospital.  

The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. The crash occurred three miles west of Hokes Bluff.  Nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.
