Two-Vehicle Accident in Front of Wendy’s Tuesday Afternoon / UPDATED

One person was shaken up in a two-vehicle accident occurring in front of Wendy’s on West Main Street in Centre early Tuesday afternoon.

The accident took place at approximately 12:30, involving a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by a resident of Centre, 70 year old Cynthia Watson and a 2018 International being driven by 47 year old Willie Gordon of Meridian, Mississippi.  The Explorer was apparently in the process of pulling out into traffic, when it was “clipped” by the big rig.  The truck managed to safely come to a stop at the light in front of Walmart, which is located next door, with the driver immediately returning to the scene.

Ms. Watson was checked out at the scene and fortunately, escaped injury in the mishap.

That accident remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.

Floyd EMS and Centre Firefighters also responded, along with other emergency personnel.
