Two Year Old Child Air-Lifted After Falling into Septic Holding Tank in Leesburg Tuesday Night / UPDATED

The small child that fell into a septic holding tank at a Leesburg residence Tuesday evening is reportedly doing well.  The incident occurred on Keener Drive shortly before 7:00pm. According to family members, the two year old, who was initially unresponsive and also was not breathing was revived at the scene prior to the arrival of medics.  Emergency personnel, upon their arrival, quickly stabilized the child then transported him to the FEMA Building in Leesburg where a landing zone had been set up.  

From there, he was air-lifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham where x-rays and several tests were conducted with the child being listed in stable condition. 

He’s being held for additional observation, and is expected to return home soon, possibly as early as today (Thursday)

Leesburg Fire, Floyd EMS and Leesburg Police all responded to the scene on Tuesday.
