U.S. Census Bureau Extends The Census Deadline Through October 5th

The U.S. Census Bureau provided the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and Alabama Counts with the following 2020 Census update late Monday:

“The Secretary of Commerce has announced a target date of October 5, 2020 to conclude 2020 Census self-response and field data collection operations.”

This extension through October 5 will give the Census Bureau’s field workers more time to complete their work following up with households that have not yet responded to the census in Alabama and across the nation. Alabamians may also continue self-responding to the census at online www.my2020census.gov, by phone toll-free 844-330-2020, by returning the paper form through October 5.

While this extension gives the state a few more days to boost responses from households, we urge all Alabamians who have not already participated in the 2020 census to do so today. We continue to need the help of our many valuable partners to encourage all who live in Alabama to participate within the next week.

ADECA and Alabama Counts will continue to stay in contact with the U.S. Census Bureau and will provide any further updates as we receive them.
