United Grocery Outlet in Summerville Closes Temporarily After Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

United Grocery Outlet in Summerville has closed their doors temporarily after an employee at Chattooga County’s newest grocery store tested positive for COVID-19.

A notice was posted on the door of the building that formerly housed Save-A-Lot – saying that the management has closed the store temporarily “to ensure that we maintain the CDC Environmental cleaning and disinfection recommendations.”  That statement goes on to say that the store will remain closed while they sanitize the facility and equipment.  The store says that they plan to be closed for 24 to 72 hours during the process.

Employees believed to have been exposed have been encouraged to go into quarantine for the mandated period recommended by the CDC.

A store spokesperson says they’re taking every possible precaution to protect and serve their customers, employees and suppliers.
