Update On Tropical Storm Alberto And How It Will Affect Cherokee County

As Tropical Storm Alberto continues to make its way toward Alabama, the Cherokee County EMA Office is monitoring the latest conditions and how it will affect Cherokee County.

For the Cherokee County area, the National Weather Service says the main impacts will be a significant amount of rain and possible flash floods Tuesday and Wednesday.

An isolated, small tornado threat can’t be ruled out. The storm track may change, so the Cherokee County area could see anywhere from 4″ to 6″ of rain through Wednesday.

The entire EMA staff is on stand-by and will be closely monitoring the latest updates.

As a reminder, be sure you have at least two reliable ways to get weather updates. WEIS will provide frequent updates on the air, on our mobile app and you can also listen online in addition to our Facebook page and website. EMA will also post updates to their Facebook page as well.

We will provide updates as additional information is provided from the National Weather Service Office in Birmingham.
