US Gas Prices Decline from Previous Week

iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — The price of filling up the car is slightly cheaper this week. It’s not a huge decline, but compared to last week, drivers nationwide are now paying close to 2 cents less for every gallon of regular unleaded gas, according to new data out from the Energy Department.

The agency says in the past week the average price has come down to $2.26 per gallon. The price of gas varies greatly across the country, however.

The average price for unleaded gas on the Gulf Coast is $2.04 a gallon, while the average in California is at $2.81 a gallon.
