iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — U.S. stocks continued to rally Monday after gains in oil prices.
The Dow gained 88.76 (+0.47 percent) to finish at 18,956.69.
The Nasdaq jumped 47.35 (+0.89 percent) to close at 5,368.86, while the S&P 500 finished at 2,198.18, up 16.28 (+0.75 percent) from its open.
Crude oil climbed 2 percent with prices hitting over $48 a barrel. Reports of a deal from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut output are helping to boost prices.
Winners and Losers: Shares in Facebook, Inc. rose 4 percent Monday on news of staff expansion in the U.K. and the construction of a headquarters in London in 2017.
Tyson Food Inc.’s shares plummeted over 14 percent after reporting disappointing results in the fourth-quarter and announcing its CEO would step down.
Amazon.com, Inc.’s stock jumped about 3 percent as the holiday gift-buying season starts to take off.
