The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has recalled more than 2 million pounds of chicken across eight states.

Officials said poultry products from Arkansas-based Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. “may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal,” but said there have been no reports about any “adverse reactions” from people who ate the chicken.

The Department of Agriculture said the problematic poultry was produced between Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 and shipped to spots including restaurants, schools, hospitals and distributors in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

The products have establishment codes “P-1949,” “P- 486” or “P-5837” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Anyone who bought these products is asked to throw them away or return them to the store.
