Valley Head Log Truck Overturns in Front of Berry College in Rome

ROLLOVER

A log truck overturned near Berry College in Rome on Tuesday of this week causing several vehicles to crash; fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

According to Georgia State Patrol accident reports the truck, belonging to B&S Trucking out of Valley Head, Alabama, was traveling northbound and when the light turned red the truck was going too fast and the driver was unable to stop in time.

The driver, listed as Jeremy Nelson from Ft Payne, said that he veered left to avoid t-boning a Toyota Camry, causing the load to shift, which in turn led to the truck rolling over.

Billy Bishop of Macon, driving a Honda Accord saw what was happening – and he attempted to back up, but not quickly enough, as logs from the truck spilled onto the hood of his car.

As Bishop backed up, he hit a Kia driven by Anthony Anderson of Rome.

Bishop was carried for treatment at Floyd Medical Center.  Nelson, Anderson and the driver of the Camry, Densil Autry of Rome, escaped injury.

Nelson was ultimately cited for driving too fast for conditions, making an improper left turn and failure to maintain a single lane in addition to running a red light.
