Valley Head Man is Arrested Following Standoff with Law Enforcement Officials

A Valley Head man is currently behind bars; that, following a standoff with DeKalb County Deputies Wednesday night.

According to the Ft Payne Times-Journal, Christopher Clyde Peoples, age 37 – was charged with two counts of third degree domestic violence, with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest – after he himself contacted the Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to have people removed from his residence on County Road 608.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris stated that People’s kept the dispatcher on the line for almost an hour, and when deputies arrived on the scene, he allegedly asked an officer for a cigarette, and at that same moment reached for the deputy’s gun.

People’s was immediately taken to the ground and placed under arrest – with no one being hurt during the incident.

He was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he is being held on bond of $7,500.
