Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports Deputies from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a DeKalb 911 call at approximate 10:00 pm October 7th at a residence on County Road 603. Deputies were summoned to the residence after an argument between two male subjects took place resulting in one being shot. Coroner Tom Wilson pronounced Kenneth Shane Scott, 40 of Valley Head dead on the scene. Sheriff Harris contacted District Attorney Mike O’Dell who ordered an autopsy to be done.
Sheriff Harris states “we appreciate all the assistance from all the agencies that responded last night. We had officers from Alabama State Troopers, Henagar Police Department, and Sylvania Police Department. Our officers worked through the night and are continuing at this time. The body has been sent to Forensics in Huntsville. The shooter has been Identified and interviewed. No arrest has been made at this time pending further investigation.”
