Vehicle Crashes into Hokes Bluff City Hall Over the Weekend; Two Arrested

Well, somebody has a whole lot of explaining to do.

Two men were taken into custody, after crashing a vehicle into Hokes Bluff City Hall, during the early morning hours of Sunday.

According to Hokes Bluff Police Chief Mitchell Hill, the series of events began with the crash occurring about 4:00am; the driver somehow managed to get the vehicle out of the building and drove away – but didn’t get far as the vehicle was later found stuck in a wooded area off Carnes Street.

Chief Hill said one of the men went into a home on Joel Street where he was confronted by a woman armed with a handgun; the woman, who was home with her children, attempted to shoot the intruder, but the gun misfired; the man fled, and went to a nearby home where an 18-wheeler was parked in the yard.

He then crawled into the sleeper compartment, where he was arrested a short time later.

The second man was captured at a nearby service station.

No one was hurt at City Hall or any other points of activity according to police reports.
