Work will soon begin, on the $12 million plus project to complete the final 3.7 miles of Veterans Memorial Parkway – and when finished – the parkway will connect I-20 to Alabama 21 and U.S. 431 north of downtown Anniston by a route through McClellan.

Rebecca White with the Alabama Department of Transportation, stated Governor Robert Bentley on November the 7th approved the notice to proceed with that project and notified the contractor, McCartney Construction of Gadsden.

White said that contractors typically have 15 days from the time that notice is issued – to agree to complete the work.

The Anniston Star is reporting that the project is expected to be completed by late spring or early summer, 2015.

A groundbreaking ceremony has been tentatively set for December 19th – with Governor Robert Bentley expected to be in attendance.
