Virginia Murphy Hughes, age 88 of Gaylesville, passed away Saturday, August 15that her residence.
Funeral services will be 11:AM Monday, August 17th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Max B. Murphy officiating; burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 until 11:AM Monday.
Pallbearers will include Heath Sweatman, Claye Sweatman, Jake Rose, Eric Hughes, Chad Hughes, Dennis Hughes II.
Survivors include daughters, Phyllis J. Hughes of Trion, GA, Gail Rose of Gaylesville, Shirley Hughes of Dalton, GA; daughter-in-law, Gail Hughes of Gaylesville; brother, Max Berlin Murphy of Gaylesville; sister, Sara Tallent of Gaylesville; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
She was precede in death by her husband, Wilburn K. Hughes; sons, Kenneth D. Hughes, Dennis L. “Duck” Hughes, Kevin L. Hughes; brother, R.L. Murphy and 2 grandchildren.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Cherokee County, the daughter of the late Lathen Elder and Sarah Josephine Tallent Murphy, was a retired Boarder at a Hosiery Mill and was a member of Berea Church Of Christ.
