VP Joe Biden to Attend 9/11 Tribute at Philadelphia Eagles Game Sunday

Official White House Photo by Pete Souza(PHILADELPHIA) — Vice President Joe Biden is heading to the epicenter of the ongoing national anthem controversy in the National Football League as he makes his way Sunday to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to stand in tribute.

A White House official confirms to ABC News that Biden is travelling to Philadelphia on Sunday to participate in the special pregame ceremony for the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns game, to stand alongside 120 first responders during the national anthem.

This will be the first time in Biden’s time as vice president that he will not participate in an official ceremony at a memorial site in New York, the Pentagon or western Pennsylvania.

The White House official would not answer whether Biden’s decision to attend the game was at all related to the ongoing controversy ignited by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, though Biden has built a reputation during his years in Washington over his close relationship to law enforcement and other first responders.
