Warrants Issued For Chattooga County Woman

Warrants have been issued for a Menlo woman who was being questioned in reference to a possible child molestation case.

It’s the same woman that was wielding a knife at a deputy last weekend as deputies and investigators tried to make sense of what had happened at her home last weekend.

Mary Angela “Angie” McDowell, age 46, has been charged with child molestation after a fourteen year old boy said that he “might have had sex” with her, but he was too drunk to remember.

The woman was found in bed with the boy by a friend. McDowell has already admitted to law enforcement that she provided alcohol for the fourteen year old boy and a fourteen year old girl at her home.

Last week, D.J. Haimerl was charged with statutory rape and child molestation for allegedly having sex with the fourteen year old girl in Ms. McDowell’s home; he was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on the charges Thursday.

According to the incident report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, McDowell was swinging a knife at a deputy who was at the home while the investigation was going on.

Another officer shot McDowell with a stun gun.

According to the report, McDowell sliced her wrists several times with the steak knife.

She was sent to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
