UPDATED: Warriors blank White Plains; Trion shuts out Cedar Bluff

WHITE PLAINS – Cade Hopper threw two first-half touchdown passes and Lamycal Mitchell added two third-quarter touchdown runs to lead the Cherokee County Warriors to a 40-0 Class 4A, Region 4 football victory at White Plains on Friday.

Hopper, who who threw for 119 yards in the game, connected with Alex Johnson on a 16-yard touchdown with 7:21 left in the first quarter. CJ Gresham hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to give the Warriors (3-1, 2-0) a 13-0 lead at halftime.

A Gresham interception in the third quarter led to a 5-yard Mitchell touchdown run, increasing the Warrior lead to 20-0. Mitchell added his second score of the game on an 8-yard run with 3:29 remaining in the third.

Damien Ramsey added a 5-yard touchdown run and Tae Diamond delivered a 70-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter for the final.

It was the Warriors’ first shutout since a 21-0 decision at Cleburne County on Oct. 16, 2020. The win improved Cherokee County’s record to 8-0 all-time against the Wildcats (1-4, 0-3).

The Warriors will host Coosa, Ga. on Friday.

Trion, Ga. 49, Cedar Bluff 0 

TRION, Ga. – The Cedar Bluff Tigers fell to 2-2 on the season with a 49-0 loss at Trion, Ga. on Friday.

Cedar Bluff hosts North Sand Mountain on Friday.
