Warriors Soccer Falls 2-0 To Boaz

The word “unlucky” can be heard from the spectator line of many sports games.

Reluctantly, the Warriors Varsity Boys Soccer side chewed that bitter fruit for their efforts at their match against the Boaz Pirates on Tuesday night. The Cherokee County boys traveled to Boaz fully intending to bring home a win.

They were believers. Lady Luck, however, decided to smile more kindly on the Pirates. The Warriors defensive squad conceded a goal early to give the Pirates confidence and was forced to absorb wave after wave of attacks.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime the Warriors had their opportunities to get back in the game, but their offensive efforts fell just short.  CCHS Senior Shane Williams and Sophomore Jay Rainey created several opportunities but the attacks never generated goals.

“We felt we could take advantage of their commitment to send players forward and sneak some players behind the midfield to create 1-on-1’s on the back side, and did so with success.  We just couldn’t find the back of the net tonight, and that was the difference”  Coach Pharr said after the loss.

The Warriors are now 2-2 overall with a 1-2 record in their area.
