Weathers Place B&B in Valley Head Destroyed by Fire Sunday Night

A house dating all the way back to the 1850’s – and, recently being operated as a B&B – was destroyed by fire Sunday night.

Around 8:20 firefighters with several area departments were dispatched to Weathers Place Bed & Breakfast in Valley Head to find the structure already full involved in flames.  Valley Head Fire Chief Dustin Burt told media outlets that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, however early indications lead him to believe the blaze began on the second floor, near the front of the house.

He said it was unclear if the Bed & Breakfast was still an on-going business.  It appears that no one was present when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.  The investigation into the matter continues.

Almost 30 firefighters in total responded – coming from the Valley Head, Mentone, Henagar and Hammondville departments.  Mentone Police also responded to the scene.  Fire Chief Burt said the structure was a total loss.
