WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund Helps To Assist 37 Families Displaced By The Recent Flood

Through generous donations received over the last few weeks, the WEIS Radio Disaster Relief Fund has been able to help 37 families displaced by the flood. We were able to collect over $7,000 in donations.

A portion of your donations also went to help support the animal shelter, provide quarters for those displaced to be able to wash laundry at the coin laundry and also provided food, drinks and personal hygiene supplies at the EMA Shelter. There was also a $200 donation that was earmarked to the tornado victims in Lee County.

Many families in Cherokee County were left with almost nothing after the high water swept over their homes, many of which lived in campers in campgrounds around the lake.

WEIS Radio General Manager Jerry Baker said “we know they’re hurting and they need some financial relief and that’s what we’re attempting to do.”

At the request of the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency WEIS activated the program that has been out into effect during times of need in the community.

All of us at WEIS would like to say thank you to each and every person who donated, no matter how little or how great. Your contributions are helping families begin to pick up the pieces and get their lives back
