West Rome Restaurant Robbed at Gunpoint

Rome Police continue the search for a gunman who robbed a West Rome restaurant around 4:00 Thursday afternoon.

The suspect entered Morelos in the West End Shopping Center at 1931 Shorter Avenue, and pointed a gun in the face of an employee – and then waved it around at the customers while yelling “Give me the money!”  That employee gave the man around $1,000 and the suspect ran out the back door near the docks.

The suspect was a white male with a small frame between the ages of 20 and 35 – wearing a red hoodie, blue jeans and had a gray book bag with green trimmings.

A search of the surrounding area was unsuccessful; however, he was caught on surveillance video.  The subject is seen walking around the back of the store, before looking inside twice, and eventually entering. Video also shows the man running out of the back door after being inside for only about two minutes.

He was last seen on foot heading toward Westdale Avenue.

No one was injured during the robbery.
