Westbrook Found Competent to Stand Trial in Capital Murder Case

DCSO - Westbrook 2

Patty Elaine Westbrook has been found competent by a jury to be tried for Capital Murder, in the slaying of 70 year old Pete Batey; that ruling came after less than 30 minutes of deliberation.

According to WAFF TV48 that decision was a relief for members of the victim’s family, who’ve been waiting for more than two years for justice.

Investigators say Westbrook shot Batey with his own gun after he gave her a lift in March 2011 – afterwards she allegedly took money from his wallet and took his truck, traveling from Geraldine – where the incident took place – to Marshall County, where she was later caught.

A date for the capital murder trial has yet-to-be set.
