What’s Wrong With This Picture? / Traffic IS Down to One Lane at Cedar Bluff Bridge

CB BRIDGE 2WEIS Radio News reported early Monday morning that traffic would be down to one lane on the Cedar Bluff Bridge between Centre and Cedar Bluff while contractors were busy painting on and beneath the span.

That information was provided to WEIS Radio by Central Dispatch and through a posting on the Town of Cedar Bluff’s Facebook page saying that the information came from the Alabama Department of Transportation; however, later that same day, ALDOT District Manager Ben Thackerson told us that the project had been postponed:

IMG_0030Now, where the lines of communication got crossed is hard to say BUT crews were at work as of 8:00 this (Tuesday, August 12th) morning – so, motorists should slow down and exercise caution when approaching the bridge between Cedar Bluff and Centre.

The good news is that thus far turnaround times have been very reasonable. We timed several of the turnarounds and the average wait time was only around five minutes.

Of course that could vary somewhat during the day – depending upon how heavy traffic is at that particular time.

IMG_0048According to the information provided by the Town of Cedar Bluff, work is expected to be going on between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm Monday – Saturday. It’s unclear just how long it’ll actually take to complete the project.

Cedar Bluff Police Chief Steve Walden has informed us that work crews will start one hour later (after 8:00am) on Wednesday, August 13th – due to that being the first day of school in Cherokee County.
