Woman Charged with Homicide by Vehicle 2nd Degree in Connection with Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A 31 year old woman has now been charged in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident occurring in Chattooga County, Georgia earlier in the month (August).

The Georgia State Patrol reports that the crash involved a BMW motorcycle being driven by Kenneth Stephens, 41 of Trion, and a Pontiac Montana van, driven by Elizabeth Ann Tench.

Troopers said that Tench was attempting to turn south onto Highway 27 from a parking lot, while the motorcycle was northbound on 27 in the righthand lane.  Tench’s vehicle entered the motorcycle’s path and was struck in the left side.  Stephens died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

Over the weekend, Tench was charged with failure to yield when entering the roadway, and a misdemeanor charge of homicide by vehicle in the second degree.
