Woman Finally Found after Wandering Lost for Several Hours Following Accident

A woman in her mid-30’s experienced car trouble around 4:00pm Monday in a remote area of Chattooga County and spent several hours wandering around, lost.

According to Sheriff Mark Schrader the woman had been traveling in The Narrows, which is an extremely isolated area in the northeastern portion of the county, when her car went off the road. She was unable to get the car out of the ditch, so she then set out on foot and soon became lost.

The sheriff says she did have a cell phone with her, but there was no service in the area.

Finally, at around 1:00am, she came to an area where she got a cell phone signal, and dialed 9-1-1, which was picked up by Whitfield County – that call was re-routed to Walker County, then finally to Chattooga County 9-1-1.

The woman was finally found just after 3:00am, and despite her ordeal, according to Sheriff Schrader, was in good condition.
