Woman Found with Crystal Meth and Marijuana During Traffic Stop

According to information in a News Release from Collinsville Police Deputy Chief Rex Leath – issued on Wednesday of this week – a traffic stop conducted by Officer Scott Green and by Reserve Officer Amanda McCormick during the early morning hours of Saturday, led to the arrest of a Fyffe resident on drug charges.

Shortly after 4:00 that morning they pulled over a white GMC truck with no tail lights at the intersection of County Road 51 and George Cagle Drive.  The driver was identified as David Bone of Sand Rock and the passenger as Fyffe resident Ashley Hancock.

Officer Green was speaking with Bone and while Officer McCormick was talking to Hancock she noticed a small black bag partially hidden underneath her leg.  She conferred with Officer Green and when they approached the vehicle again – they found that bag had been moved.  Both occupants of the truck were asked to step out of the vehicle for a pat down for weapons and at that point, Hancock reportedly stated that whatever was found belonged to her.

Hancock was then found to be in possession of rolling papers, in addition to a plastic baggie containing crystal methamphetamine.  She was taken into custody at the scene.  A search of the truck also turned up a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Ashley Hancock was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute, with Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – and is currently being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center on bonds totaling $45,000.
