Woman Struck and Killed while Trying to Save Dog on Highway 431 in Albertville

A Decatur woman who was trying to save a stray dog on Highway 431 in Albertville – was herself killed as she attempted to escort the animal to safety.

Christina Nicole Green, age 31, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling along the route last Saturday night when she saw the dog trying to cross heavy traffic – and urged the driver to stop and let her out in an effort to help.

After getting out of the car Green walked across the northbound lane and the median before being hit by a pickup truck in the southbound lane.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  According to Albertville Police, no charges were filed.
