Woodville sweeps Class 1A, Area 13 basketball games with Cedar Bluff

WOODVILLE – The Woodville Panthers swept a pair of Class 1A, Area 13 varsity basketball games with Cedar Bluff on Thursday.

The Panthers claimed a 66-53 win in the boys game, while the Lady Panthers earned a 46-21 victory.

In the boys game, Bucky Leek led the Tigers with 16 points. Anbre Leek added 14 points, including three 3-pointers. Connor Flynt and Jacob Burleson both had six points. Flynt’s points came on a pair of 3-pointers. Caleb Tucker finished with five points.

Caleb Dolberry topped Woodville’s scorers with 25 points. Jackson Peek added 22 points and Garrett Copeland finished with nine points.

Woodville (7-3, 4-0) led 15-7 at the end of the first quarter and extended its advantaged to 36-22 at halftime. Cedar Bluff (4-10, 2-3) managed to cut its deficit down to 47-40 at the end of the third quarter, but Woodville held on down the stretch for the final.

In the girls game, Jordyn Walker led the Lady Tigers (3-9, 2-3) with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Maggie Clowdis contributed six points.

Alexis Brown topped Woodville (6-4, 4-0) with a game-high 23 points. Lexi Downey connected on a pair of treys and finished with eight points.

Woodville held a 10-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 22-13 at halftime. The Lady Panthers extended their lead to 30-18 at the end of three quarters and finished the game on a 16-3 run.

Cedar Bluff is scheduled to play at Skyline on Friday.
